There has been an interesting recent development in the David Rhodes saga. People leaving list of names on the site are reporting they have the same list with one name added. This shows us who is sending the lists on and the speed at which the chain moves from one generation to another. I will try and find some software that enables me to map out the chain in detail. If anyone has an idea of the type of software to use (maybe mind-mapping software could do it), let me know.

These things seem to come in waves. Coming home from holidays last weekend, I found that someone had left a note on the web site with a list of names from a David Rhodes letter they had received (See early post). When I checked through the snail mail sent over the last three weeks, there was the tell-tale hand written envelope with the bulge of a 5-cent piece in it. The names from this letter have also been added to the David Rhodes page.

It is the new year and someone has decided that their new year’s resolution will be to get rich quick with a pyramid letter scheme. In this case it was someone called D.Craven of Centenary Heights, Queensland. Thanks for the 5c piece attached to the letter, but I won’t be sending $10 to the person on the top of the list, nor moving your name up the list, nor sending the letter out to another 200 people. However for your trouble, you and the five people on the list before you get added to my David Rhodes page. Congratulations, you are the first for 2008.

It looks like the scheme has changed slightly. All other letters only had five names on the list. This time it is six. That means it will take even longer for a new entrant to get to the top of the list.

Who is David Rhodes?

David Rhodes is a (probably) fictitious character from Perth (amongst other places) who claims to have made thousands of dollars through a pyramid scheme which the chain letter claims is legal.
Of course the scheme is illegal as detailed in various fair trading and consumer web sites in New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia, the ACT and the Northern Territory. (Reference now removed) . (Couldn’t find a reference in Tasmania)

So why is this page here?
Quite simply I am tired of receiving these letters in the post and thought it was time to name and shame.
If you have arrived at this page by doing a vanity search (putting your own name into a search engine), then this might come as a surprise to you, since your name may be listed below.

You see, part of the scheme involves putting your name and address at the bottom of a list and taking off the name of the person at the top of the list.
Here are all of the names and addresses of people (allegedly) involved in the schemes that have been sent to me. Well, almost, the first few I threw out and the next ten were sent to the NSW Department of Fair Trading.
If you wish to have your name removed from the list, send a letter of apology out to ALL the people to whom you originally sent the letter and send me evidence that you have done so.
